ConnectWise app-identity compromise makes Microsoft 365 tenant review mandatory

What happened

Treat every Microsoft 365 tenant that currently uses or previously used ConnectWise Cloud Backup or SkyKick as a separate investigation unit. ConnectWise has reset accounts and credentials in the affected Cloud Backup environment, but downstream Microsoft 365 tenants still require evidence-based review while three services remain suspended.

The leadership decision

Security leaders should enumerate every tenant with current or historical Cloud Backup or SkyKick consent. Assign the identity team and each Microsoft 365 service owner to produce a tenant-by-tenant disposition. Former SkyKick users must remain in scope because Sophos observed enumeration of tenants without active subscriptions.

Weak eMudhra CA keys create a residual enterprise trust-store problem

What happened

Do not assume browser revocation closed the issue. Inventory enterprise trust stores and certificate chains, deploy available Firefox and NSS protections, prepare for Chrome's root removal and document any system that cannot promptly distrust the affected hierarchy.

The leadership decision

Security leaders should inventory systems trusting emSign ECC Root CA - G3 or affected intermediates. Assign PKI engineering and platform owners to build a decision-grade inventory of trust-store consumers. Separate managed browsers, which received rapid revocation controls, from runtimes and appliances that depend on static bundles or delayed operating-system updates.

DHS DeepSeek order reaches third-party AI products and services

What happened

Federal agencies must remove covered DeepSeek implementations and exclude them from procurement. Agencies and suppliers should inventory direct and embedded model use, obtain product-level attestations, document interim controls and govern exceptions through accountable legal and security owners.

The leadership decision

Security leaders should inventory direct, hosted and embedded DeepSeek implementations across agency systems. Federal CISOs should pair technical discovery with procurement and contract records. Require each system owner and supplier to identify the underlying model provider, hosting path and third-party implementation. Where provenance cannot be established, classify the product as unresolved rather than compliant.

Stolen UpdraftCentral keys require WordPress compromise assessment after updating

What happened

Update every affected site to UpdraftPlus 1.26.13 or Premium 2.26.13 or later, remove remaining UpdraftCentral keys, hunt published indicators, inspect hidden users and plugins, terminate sessions and restore only from validated pre-incident backups. It says the UpdraftPlus plugin downloads and self-hosted UpdraftCentral were not affected.

The leadership decision

Security leaders should inventory every site with current or historical UpdraftCentral Cloud keys. Assign web-platform or hosting owners to inspect every site directly, including sites believed to use UpdraftPlus only for backup. Remove persistence before rotating credentials and reconnecting. Separate release deployment from compromise closure.

PHP critical-release warning demands an emergency application change window

What happened

Prepare an emergency PHP change window for 14:00 UTC. Inventory runtime ownership, preserve rollback options, monitor the official announcement, validate affected branches against the release and require managed providers to supply exact version and remediation evidence.

The leadership decision

Security leaders should reserve an emergency application-change window beginning at 14:00 UTC. Assign application platform owners to map PHP versions to business services before the release. Include base images, serverless or platform-managed runtimes, CI systems, developer images and vendor-hosted applications where runtime responsibility is shared.
